Onit Dictate Becomes Cloudless Voice

Today, we're releasing v4.1, Onit Dictate is now Cloudless Voice, packed with great new features1

New name: Onit Dictate is now Cloudless Voice

Same app, same team, same 100%-on-device dictation. We renamed it to strengthen our positioning with privacy-centric companies — "Cloudless" clarifies what's always been true: your voice never touches the cloud. (The other Onit, onit.com, also threatened to sue us.) And the new icon is cooler, too.

We're on Windows now

No longer Mac-only — tell your Windows friends. The same private, on-device dictation, now on both platforms. Grab Mac or Windows at cloudless.so.

Custom Dictionary

Teach it your names, jargon, and acronyms. It even suggests new terms from your corrections.

Snippets

Save text you reuse, then just say its name mid-dictation to drop it in.

Corrections Mode

A new internal tool: in Corrections Mode you correct your text before it's inserted on each dictation. Why bother? Because it powers the next feature.

Model Testing

Replay your own corrected transcripts through different speech models and see which one is most accurate for you.

Faster engine & smarter cleanup

Models stay warm while idle ones free up RAM, cleanup is smarter, and "change-your-mind" backtracking fixes what you take back mid-sentence.

QuickEdit & Sidekick have moved out

We pulled our legacy products from this build so Cloudless Voice can do one thing well. But we didn't kill them — we open-sourced them as standalone apps: download QuickEdit and download Sidekick.
